Day 4: HITO CAJÓN - NATIONAL PARK EDUARDO AVAROA - GREEN LAGOON - LICANCABUR VOLCANO - GEYSERS - RED LAGOON

Transport from the Hotel to Hito Cajon (on the Chile-Bolivia border), pass through customs and change of vehicle. Once in Bolivia, your destination is the Eduardo Avaroa National Park, which covers more than 700,000 hectares and is located to the south west of Potosi, in the Province of Sud Lipez. The local fauna contains unique species that have adapted to the extreme conditions of this region, and some of them are endangered. The region contains lakes, salt flats, volcanoes, mountains, plains, thermal springs, rivers rich in algae and plankton, geysers, flora and grand scenery in general.
Transport to Green Lagoon, whose waters are as green as a giant emerald. From the shore you can see the majestic beauty of Licancabur volcano (5 865 m.a.s.l.), and the dazzling colour of the lake at sunset is caused by its high magnesium content. Then a visit to the Sol de Mañana geyser, fumaroles and volcanic pools that form a spectacular sight in the strong wind that gives the visit seem more of an adventure. This area covers 1 square kilometre and is on the road to Salar de Chalviri salt flats. You can see boiling lava in the craters and the fumaroles throw out a mixture of hot water and steam to a height of 80 to 100 metres. A primitive landscape of boiling mud and lava, a throwback to the beginnings of time. This geothermal region is located at 4 900 m.a.s.l.
An hour from the geysers we come to Red Lagoon: covering 60 square kilometres at al altitude of 4 278 m.a.s.l., its beauty takes one's breath away. Its waters are reddish and it is home to flocks of pink-feathered tokokoo flamingos; the similarly pink jututu and chururu, whose plumage is almost white. The birds' synchronised movements seem like an improvised ballet that you can watch for hours. Vicuñas, llamas and vizcachas can also be seen here. Box lunch en route. Arrival a Uyuni, cocktail, dinner and an overnight stay in a deluxe Airstream Camper in the middle of the Uyuni Salt Flats.

Day 5: SALAR DE UYUNI - ISLA PESCADO - ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE AYQUE

After breakfast enjoy a fabulous excursion in the Uyuni Salt Flats and to Isla Pescado. Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat, on Bolivia's Andean plateau, and covers an area of 12 000 square kilometres. The deep silence makes your heart beat faster and plunges you into a surreal landscape where the sky is reflected by the land, playing with your sense of perspective and imagination. Lunch at Isla Pescado, also called Incahuasi, an oasis surrounded by islands full of algae formations and fossils. It is covered by thousands of giant cacti, some more than a hundred years old, growing more than 12 metres high. The landscape of Uyuni Salt Flats merges into the horizon, making this an ideal place for serious photographers. In the afternoon there is an excursion to Chiquini cave and the ruins at Ayque. Then return to the Airstream Camper. Sunset cocktail, dinner and overnight stay in the deluxe Airstream Camper in the middle of the great Uyuni salt lake.

Day 6: FLIGHT TO LA PAZ - WITCHES MARKET - VALLEY OF THE MOON

Transport to the airport for your flight to La Paz. City tour on arrival.
This one-day tour takes you through indigenous, colonial and contemporary areas, all beneath the gaze of the imposing snow-capped Mount Illimani. You will visit the fruit and vegetable markets and see the biodiversity with which Bolivia biodiversity. There is also an art and contemporary design market where impeccable handicrafts are made. The Witches' Market is an obligatory stop on the route: a perfect example of the syncretism prevalent in this country. There is also an excursion to The Moon Valley whose clay formations resemble the surface of the moon. Here you can easily disengage from modern life and enter a parallel universe in another time and dimension. The rest of the day is free. Stay the night at the Hotel Casa Grande.

Day 7: LA PAZ - LAKE TITICACA

Shopping in the most exclusive stores in La Paz: silver jewellery, leather and woollen items, haute couture. Lunch at La Casona Restaurant. In the afternoon there is a trip to Huatajata on Lake Titicaca. En route enjoy the magnificent snowy peaks of the Cordillera Real mountains. Arrival and a visit to the Andean Roots Eco-Village and the Altiplano Museum to learn little about the history of this region.
In the evening there will be a son et lumière called the Mystical World of the Kallawayas, involving well-known Bolivian shamans who believe that the soul must be cured before the body. Our Kallawaya, Tata Benjo, blesses the visitors and then reads the coca leaves for anyone who wishes to know what the future holds. Candle-lit dinner in Sumaj Untavi, or in the restaurant's comfortable private suite. For lovers of the endless sky we recommend a visit to our Alajpacha Observatory to see the southern constellations and learn about the cosmovision of the Aymara. Overnight stay at the Inca Utama Hotel & Cultural Resort.

Day 8: LAKE TITICACA - PRIVATE CRUISE - COPACABANA - PUNO

Today we have a luxury private cruise on Lake Titicaca, with visits to outstanding places such as the rural bay of Cocotoni and its ancestral community, and The Moon Island, which as an impressive view of the mountains. The island lets you travel back in time, to understand a little more about the history and legends of the zone. The crystalline local waters promote health and good luck. Lunch at Uma Kollu Archaeological Restaurant with an impressive view over the lake and its background scenery.
Before continuing to Puno in Peru there is a stroll through the streets of the picturesque village of Copacabana on the shore of the lake, which contains the most famous image of the Virgin Mary in Bolivia: Mamita del Lago, also known as the Virgin of India. Thousands of pilgrims visit during the year to give thanks or ask for her favour. After crossing the border (Bolivia-Peru), private transport is provided to your hotel in Puno. Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel Libertador.

Day 9: ANDEAN EXPLORER TRAIN

Transport to the railway station to take the exclusive Andean Explorer train to Cusco. The route takes you through typical Altiplano scenery and the journey is enlivened by cocktails on board, as well as music and dances from the Puno region. All meals are included and you stay overnight on board the train itself.
